How do I fix BSOD stop: 7b in windows 7?
I recently tried to upgrade windows via flashdrive from pro to ult., so I naturally changed the boot order in the bios. I was not able to upgrade and when I went to restart my computer I received an error in the form of a BSOD with the stop code 7b. I then went to restart again and received the same thing. i went in to the bios, restored default setting, but this changed nothing. I have tried to access safe mode, but to no avail. I have already run CHKDSK, but still no luck. I am completely out of ideas, I have also researched for hours and havent found anything that works. I REALLY need to get my pc working again for school. oh I am able to access the cmd prompt, if that helps. If someone can shed some light on this i would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Answer:
Sometimes Non-standard boot partition causes a stop error 0x0000007b
boot to recovery console (boot from Windows XP CD and press "R" when prompted to
enter the recovery console.)
run "chkdsk /p" to check the disk for errors - i am sure you shouldnt find any.
in case you find errors chkdsk /r
run "bootcfg /scan" to further check the disk - i am sure you shouldnt find any
---if you find an error here you can try "bootcfg /rebuild" to rebuild the
partition
