Spearfishing Tips? Should I buy the following speargun?
Im 140lbs, and about 5'8. Im a pretty good swimmer/diver.. Im sort of new to spearfishing but i have had some experience, i plan to buy this:

It's a great spear gun, but I would say at $300 a bit on the expensive side. Since you're new to spearfishing I'd think it would be a better idea to start with a JBL Explorer or another speargun at about half the price. That way you get a chance to try out your skills and learn the sport without spending quite so much money.
By the way. The fact that you chose a sling as your first gun is a very good sign. The air cartridges are great, but can be a problem when reloading while fishing. With a rubber sling all you need to do is restretch the spring and replace the spear and your ready to go again.
