2 Minute Dreka-Lets Start A Porn in the Name of Gore
(Half-Life Records, 2006)

It has been quite sometime since Ive heard a band this noisy and ridiculous, and I cant get enough of it. Somewhere in between Cock and Ball Torture and Last Days of Humanity, 2 Minute Dreka are a fast and guttural grind band with lots of groove and extremely gurgled vocals. This isnt anything new, but it is quite entertaining none the less.
For a band of this style there is a surprising amount of diversity on display here. Of course there is a lot of blasting, but the band uses a lot of groove and the overall approach is rather simple and rhythmic. This is definitely not what you would consider technical music. It is simple straight forward and ass kicking.
One complaint I might have is that the vocals are over processed and sometimes sound quite ridiculous. The backup shrieks are amazing and remind me quite a bit of the vocal style that Hemdale used when they were still together.
If you are a fan of Cock and Ball Torture, Gut, Hemdale, or Last Days of Humanity, this is definitely right up your alley. This is fast and sick with just enough humor added to keep things from getting too ridiculous.
Deranged Shit-Kill It By the Brick
(Half-Life Records, 2007)

After an extremely strange and demented intro that could only be described as insane pop music, Deranged Shit kicks things up a notch with the next song, but still didnt quite sound like what I was expecting. This is definitely Deranged Shit!
The band has a simplistic and heavy approach with straight ahead riffing that has an almost old school thrash feel to it similar to Anthrax during the metallic moments. The drum machine is very obvious and almost seems to be trying to give the music a slight electronic feel. The vocals are slightly guttural and quite unique sounding. I was expecting blast beats and crazy riffs so the approach of the band is taking me by surprise.
There are definitely surprises in spades with this album. If you are a close minded metal fan you definitely wont enjoy what the band has to offer. Hell Im not even sure if I like what the band does, but it certainly is unique. What else could you call a band that has a vocal approach that sounds like Cookie Monster and Elmo trying their best to sound evil? Just listen to the song Make Love Everybody and youll know what I am talking about.
This is definitely a strange album and this is probably one of the albums you need to hear for yourself to see if you will enjoy what the band does. If you like unique music with electronic elements you might like this, but it certainly is strange at times.
