"I'm Bored!" Activities for Young Teenage Girls
The teenage years may seem to be some of the most difficult years to satisfy, but there are lots of great activities that your teenage daughter can do over the holiday. She doesn't have to spend her whole holiday bored in front of the TV.
One great thing for her to try out over the holiday would be volunteering. There are so many homeless shelters, soup kitchens, battered woman's shelters and animal shelters that could always use some extra hands. Volunteering is always a great way to spend time, and she'll come away from the experience feeling great about herself.
Your daughter may love sports already but if not, this may be a great time to get her involved in some. Great for her health, fun, and engaging, she can try softball, basketball, laser tag, hockey or tennis. There are others sports you may not have thought of such as golf, bowling or even wrestling. The sky is the limit! There are many sports clubs that are inexpensive to join.
It's also great to get out into nature during a holiday. Your daughter may be interested in hiking, ice skating, kayaking, canoeing, paintball, swimming, bird watching or horseback riding. Any of these activities will give her great stories to tell when she heads back to school after the holiday!
Holidays are a great time to spend with family as well. Try proposing a designated time for family games in the evening, or have movie nights with lots of popcorn and other fun snacks. It's great to cook together too, and remember Mad Libs? It can be hysterical to do these as a family. And you don't need to remind her that they are educational!
If your daughter has hobbies, this could be a great time to get her more involved in them, finding clubs and reaching out to others who share her passion. If she doesn't, there are so many hobbies to get involved in. Depending on her personality and interests, she may want to start a coin or stamp collection, start playing marbles, juggling, or take up throwing darts. You could also find theatre companies or learn how to play a musical instrument, these are great kid's activities.
It's never too early to get your teen to be more money-savvy. Help her start a home business, dog walking, baby-sitting, servicing computers, making an E-zine or making a craft and selling it online.

Frequently Asked Questions...
Do You Name Your Musical Instrument?
Just wondering...the kids in our band do. My trombone had a name, but I want to change it. My other trombone's name is Maurice, and my alto saxophone needs a name.
Also,I would like suggestions on a name for my trombone (girl name) and my alto sax (boy name). I am trying to decide between the names Judas (Jude for short) and Ringo for the sax.
So this is what I'm looking for:
Do you name your instrument?
If so, please name.
Name suggestion for trombone (girl name)
Ringo or Jude (or suggestion) for my saxophone (boy name)
Sorry this was a little long for this question!
And yes, I do realize this is weird, but I'm just wondering...and my other instruments need a name.
