A Review of The GP55 Junior Drum Set
The GP55 Junior Drum Set is built by GP Percussion, which is an extremely reputable drum company. It comes as a complete set, and includes everything you will need to play it right out of the box. That's right, it is 100% playable with no need to purchase a single other thing. In addition to the drums, it also comes with cymbals, hardware, seat, and sticks.
The full kit includes:
Drums:
16" bass drum
10" snare drum
8" rack tom
10" rack tom
12" floor tom
Cymbals:
9.5" crash cymbal
Pair of 8" hi-hats
Hardware:
Spring-loaded bass drum pedal
Snare drum stand
Hi-hat stand
Cymbal arm
Adjustable-height stool
Accessories:
Drumsticks
Tuning Key
The GP55 Junior Drum Set is made with real wood shells and durable metal hardware. It has fully-tunable top and bottom heads.
Probably one of the most impressive things about this kit is its stylish black rims. They really add a touch to the appearance of the kit that no other set comes with out of the box. Often, if you desire black rims, you would need to to get them separately in addition to the drum set, then take off the chrome rims that came on the drums and replace them with the black ones. In other words, this is a custom job, but it comes standard on the GP55 and it really looks great.
One of the best things about the GP55 Junior Drum Set is that it is covered by a full 1-year manufacturer's warranty, which protects from any manufacturer defects.
The kit is very easy to put together right out of the box, and can be assembled quickly with the included instructions so you can be drumming in practically no time.
The kit is recommend for players between the ages of 3 to 9 years old. Overall, it is a well-built and sturdy kit. It is ideal for anyone wanting to buy a first set for their child to learn to play the drums. It has very impressive sound quality for the price. The seat could afford to be a little more heavy-duty, and it only adjusts to three different heights, which I thought would be more of a problem than it was, but turned out to not matter. It is certainly not a big enough problem to have to replace it, though of all the parts, the throne would be the cheapest to replace.
The final word is that the GP55 Junior Drum Set totally exceeded my expectations in manufacture quality, sound quality, and looks. And for the price, you can not go wrong.
