Carnage for the Destroyer
Directed by Chris Seaver
Splatter Rampage/Tempe DVD
Much like the bunch of miscreants who occupied the universe Kevin Smith created, Chris Seaver has done a similar thing using the same characters in multiple films so you pretty much know what to expect from the ridiculous cast of characters and are introduced to new ones along the way. What makes this movie a bit different is the heavy metal slant to the story that should have any fans of metal rolling on the floor laughing hysterically.
A group of theme park employees are working on creating an attraction based on a Greek god The Destroyer. Sebastian, played by the hilarious Travis Indovina, is the leader of the gang, a semi-retarded flamboyant metal head likely to talk like he is reciting power metal lyrics and even more likely to pull out his guitar for some impromptu metal riffage. When The Destroyer is accidentally summoned members of the group begin to meet violent and hilarious ends. While the comedic elements are there, this is much closer to say a slasher film than what you might expect from Chris Seaver. Its just that most slasher films dont feature a kick ass ape named Teenape of course, but they should.
If you expect and enjoy perverted comedy from Low Budget Pictures you will not be let down with this film. One scene that easily takes the cake involves Teenape, a rubber dick, a bucket load of fake sperm and a big set of boobs. Another scene involves a severed arm being used for interesting uses before doubling as a weapon and things get bloody and very disturbing.
This is a movie that moves at a lightning quick pace. At only 55 minutes long is might seem somewhat short but it doesn't feel incomplete. The pace is frantic with comedy, gore and sex rapidly hitting the screen. The ending in the bowling alley is an interesting setting for the climax allowing the story to reach its ridiculous peak.
While I have been a fan of all of the Low Budget films I have seen thus far, I think Carnage for The Destroyer has been my favorite. It has all of the comedic elements you would expect, gore, and a hilarious metal slant to the story that makes it slightly different from the usual LBP film.
