Straight to video releases are much more common these days and it seems like the vast majority of them are horror movies. You know the type of movie that has a cover that looks awesome and then you watch the movie and it is cheaply made and looks like it was shot on a home video camera with family members playing the roles. This film is one of those films. It is amateurish in every way possible and in all honesty there is no story to speak of here. It literally is 81 minutes of the three serial killers abducting woman, killing them and then burying them. That is pretty much it. Wash, rinse, and repeat so to speak.
It is quite ridiculous to think that three serial killers could kidnap and kill 420 women and not have any police trying to capture them. Especially considering that they always leave a memento from the victim near the grave marker which is basically leaving evidence for the police to find quite easily. So there is basically no story, the murders are boring and hardly have any bloodshed whatsoever. There is literally no gore to be found in the film. There is blood, but it looks cheap and there really isn't enough of it covering their killing spot considering they have killed over 400 girls.
But what really makes me laugh about this movie is the fact that you continually hear a swarm of flies in the soundtrack and one of the characters carries a flyswatter yet you never see a singe fly. Not even one, and yet it sounds like there should be thousands swarming around from the sound effects. Another funny aspect is the fact that they hold women in a chicken coop that looks like you could kick the door off with very little trouble. The fact that none of the women ever try to fight back is also a bit unrealistic. These are healthy young women and the main killer is quite large so do the math, I'm sure they could get away if they wanted to. So basically there are a lot of problems with the script, acting, camera work, soundtrack, hell, pretty much everything about the movie is broken in one way or another.
I couldn't help but chuckle when the trailer proclaimed Ulli Lommel to be a master of horror. If mastery means that you release 4 or 5 movies a year and they are all terrible, then sure he is a master. I respect him for The Boogeyman, but that was released in 1980 and this friend is a far cry from that film. Directors can do some amazing things on a small budget but Ulli Lommel is definitely not one of those directors. This is a boring film that feels about four times longer than it's already short running time. Do yourself a favor and pick up Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer so you can see the pinnacle of the serial killer genre and stay as far away as possible from this film.
