yes gammon is a good starter set. it is intended for beginners, so it's cheap and affordable. but the quality is not that good. but it should be just fine for starts. you might want to get a hihat cymbal and a crash or a ride cymbal. if it comes with a crash/ride, i would probably go for a dedicated ride, but that would be more expensive too. look online for some full cymbal packs, like sabian solars or b8s, or zildjian zbts.
