Frequently Asked Questions...
Self recording help/ drum help?
Okay, fairly soon I will be getting a Mac book of my own. I'm very familiar with GarageBand and I would like to record some of my songs with it. I already have the usb/aux out cord and everything. So the bass, guitar, and vocals I pretty much have covered. But the drums are the things I'm not sure how to go about getting them recorded. I'm fairly competent in drums, I just do not have my own set, so I'm going to borrow a friend's kit for the few days I'll need to record. But the problem is, I do not have the first clue how to get them recorded without it being super bad. I would really not like to buy drum mics lol. Another one of my friends said I could go the drum machine route, which I am not against but, I also don't know a lot about drum machines. If you have any advice at all, it would be very much appreciated.
Thank you guys
Dylan
Answer:
Recording live drums is an art and a science. Your drums have to be perfect (no buzzes, no rattles, heads tuned perfectly, etc.), you need a good room to record in, you need lots of good microphones, you need a good mixer and good compression, EQ, etc., and you need an engineer who really knows what he's doing.
Get a drum machine.
