Rhythm Band
All Time Low Rises Higher Everyday
The American pop punk band, All Time Low has been around for a couple of years. Compared to the work of other bands though, the All Time Low discography is considered a young and fresh entrant into the music scene. The group was formed in 2003 in Baltimore, Maryland by musicians barely out of their teens. Band members are in their early twenties.
Despite their relative youth and newness to the music scene, the band members are at an all-time high and it looks like the ride is just about to take off to new heights. The members are Alexander Gaskarth on lead vocals and lead guitar, Jack Bakarat on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Zachary Merrick on bass guitar and Rian Dawson on drums.
Band History
All Time Low started as a high school band, eighth grade level, to be exact, doing covers of the songs made popular by the pop punk bands Blink 182 and Green Day as well as its greatest influence, New Found Glory. In fact, the name of the band is directly taken from the lyrics of the song “Head On Collision” by the said band.
It didn’t take long for the group to eventually get out of their cover band status. The All Time Low music merch already boasts of a growing collection of work. They now have three albums, eight singles and two extended plays. A DVD is set for release this year.
Albums Out
After becoming a group, the band was able to grab a deal with Emerald Moon Records. This led to the production of their EP, “The Three Words to Remember in Dealing with the End.” This was followed by the first All Time Low album “The Party Scene.” This was the highlight of the band’s career in 2005.
The year following their first break, the members were taken on by Hopeless Records. At that time, they weren’t even out of high school yet. This proves that the group was made up of truly talented artists. Under a new label, the band recorded new takes on some of their first album songs. They also added some fresh content for their EP release. This piece of work paid off for the band when it took a spot in the Top Heatseekers and Independent Albums charts. This was to be the true beginning of the groups rise to greater heights.
The release of “So Wrong, It’s Right” marked the band’s entrance into mainstream music in 2007. It was met so positively, that the group was able to land the 2008 Band of the Year award from the Alternative Press Magazine.
One other proof that the group is indeed on the right track is its work with Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 fame. The veteran pop punk artist pitched in for the third All Time Low album, “Nothing Personal”. This came out under Hopeless Records in 2009. Interscope Records will release the band’s fourth album.
The band's name is very deceptive in that it is at the cusp of an all-time high. We are eagerly anticipating more pop punk material from All Time Low as it continues to mature both in terms of its music and its members.
